Product Overview
The Washer 0.193 ID x 0.687 OD x 0.032 is a thin metal plate with a hole that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a bolt or nut. Flat washers are used to displace the load of a fastener head or nut on a thread joint. They also act as a spacers. 18/8 stainless steel has nominally 18% chromium, 8% nickel, the remainder iron as its composition. Stainless steel has a unique self-healing property due to the alloying elements used, a thin transparent layer is formed on the surface. In case the surface is scratched or damaged otherwise, this thin layer, which is only a few atoms thick, immediately rebuilds with the assistance of oxygen from air or water. This is the reason why stainless steel does not require any coating or other corrosion protection to remain bright and shiny even after decades of use.
