Product Overview
The Torsion spring is a spring that works by twisting the end along its axis; that is, a flexible elastic object that stores mechanical energy when it is twisted. When it is twisted, it exerts a force (actually torque) in the opposite direction, proportional to the amount (angle) it is twisted. Torsion springs are actually helical springs that exert a force (called torque) in a radial direction. Unlike compression springs which are designed to keep mechanisms apart, torsion springs hold two mechanisms together. This torsion spring is designed to work counter-clockwise. This spring provides a clothespin with its ability to clamp down on other items. The spring is made up of stainless steel material, which contains 10.5 percent of chromium in its composition. The presence of chromium helps to provide good corrosive resistance as well as excellent toughness to the material. The part does not contain more than 0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials for the lead, mercury, Poly Brominated Biphenyls (PBB), Poly Brominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE), 0.1 microgram/square centimeter Hexavalent chromium and 0.01% by weight in homogeneous materials for cadmium.
